new to forums with a Q or 2

hello everyone first of all i want to thank the creators of this forum for giving us new android users a place to find info on apps, widgets, etc...

i have had my huawei ascend (M860) for about 2 months now. over the past week i have tried to find info about rooting my phone, only (not to my surprise) alot of people dont really tinker with cricket for their phone service.

im not a complete noob when it comes to custom firmware (i hacked every psp i own)

my questions are:

are all rooting programs compatible with all androids?

whats the best program out there for rooting MY phone?

and

will all or most apps work with my phone rooted?

No, not sure, and only if your OS version is supported. Some apps won't work with pre-2.2 versions of Android.

I'd suggest trying z4root for a one-touch rooting solution. If that doesn't work then there might be another app that works for you. All you need is an account there.

i am now rooted with z4. anything else i might need? i heard about titanium and just downloaded that to get rid of bloatware.

what are custom roms and how could they benefit me?
