New to rooted phone and having issues with rom flashing

So I was able to root my Droid X2 with no issues one click was perfect.

I purchased Rom manger premium as well as Rom Toolbox premium and droid x bootstrapper
I thought I had all the tools I needed to flash roms and create backups.

Currently this is where I'm at

Andriod version: 2.3.4
Kernel : 2.6.32.9-00005-g2440aba hudsoncm@il93lnxdroid52#2 ( whatever that means )

I asked rom manager to create a backup - not sure if it did or not
I have tried to flash a few roms -Molten was the main one I tried - it never worked -:(
I have tried to enter recovery mode from the boot menu it has proven to be impossible.

I guess everything is still working fine except the market - it gives me an error and i cant download programs (your device isn't compatible with this item)
This happens on some apps not all -cant download my banking apps nor does app brain.
I already checked the lcd density to 240 which was suggested in another forum ( still nothing )

Any ideas why rom manager does not seem to backup?
why I can't get to the recovery reboot menu?
and most important why can't i get the market to work right?
