New to the bionic. Love it so far!

Hey guys I just got a bionic are there any things that anyone recomends that I do to this thing? This is a HUGE improvement over my old R2. Thanks in advance just looking to see what others have done so far.

I don't have mine rooted, I'm waiting for the update, but just spend time and tweak your settings to optimize your phone to your liking. I also got the extended battery which works great for me, I don't like to cripple my phone with turning every thing off or set it to turn off. I get 16 -19 hours off the extended battery also if you have WIFI at home and work use it as I've noticed it uses less juice than 4G, but most off all...Don't get sidetrack by people who roam these forums knocking the Bionic or saying get this or get that...This is a great phone and, me personally, I will be keeping it through the lenght of my contract. I came from a BB and it's been a HUGE upgrade for me.

I've been happy with mine.

The only two things that im using instead if the stock apps is quickpic (instead of the gallery, free) and camera zoom fx (instead of stock camera app, paid)

It's been said that the upcoming update will fix the camera issues so a third party camera app may not be needed afterwards.

Oh...and the fm radio app for listening to local fm stations was cool. My OG DROID was never capable of it as far as I know.

Welcome to the club and enjoy!

Two things I switch right away-keyboard to swiftkey, and swithch messaging to handcent. Also get camera zoom fx. For text n drive situations go with Jarvis.

There is a very recent thread here listing the apps that Bionic owners are rocking.

BTW, even with the new super cool hardware on the horizon, I am very happily settled on the Bionic. GREAT phone.

Wife does not have unlimited data so she its on wifi all day. She has great battery life. I use 4g can use 10% an hour or more. Max battery save and forced 3g I use like 2% an hour. Extended battery now and out went 16 hours yesterday. Mild use. Including Pandora on the way home last night, and uploading photos to Facebook. Love this phone.

Don't let the haters make you start doubting yourself, they can do that...

I love my Bionic, I make excuses to use it every chance I can just cause I love to hold it and look into it. Sure, it has problems, but no more than other smartphones I've owned when released (cough Eris/X2 cough). Beware of the data drop issue, though it usually doesn't happen right away and a fix is expected soon so hopefully you won't even have to deal with it. In any case welcome to the family, like someone mentioned theres a great thread on what apps people use on their Bionic, probably on page 2 or 3, definitely check that out.
