Hey, guys...new to the Droid forum and the phone itself. Came over from the Blackberry world.

Anyway, how can I uninstall pre-installed programs, i.e. Corporate Calendar, Goggles?

Thanks,
T

Still kinda new...haven't had time to figure out what exactly that means.

check this out - http://www.droidforums.net/forum/droid-hacks/632-what-root-means.html

and yes, you do have to bee rooted to unistall pre-installed apps and also to use titanium backup...my bad, ={ i just assumed you were rooted already...just about everyone is these days. =}

after reading about rooting and you decide you want to do it follow this guide - http://www.droidforums.net/forum/dr...royo-step-step-installation-2.html#post528613

Thank you! I've only had the phone 2 days, so....LOL

Definitely gonna check this out...need to get rid of some of these pre-installed programs! ;)

Got another question...I've ready that we will be getting a Froyo update on 7 Aug. Will this be a rooted version?

The OTA updates which is rumored now for 7/7 will not be rooted. Nothing that is sent OTA is rooted. If you want root you have to do it yourself.

The version of 2.2 offered at MDW and also available here in our news section has root with it. So if you want 2.2 with root, that would be the way to go.
