newbie who needs help!

Help me please, as I'm having major issues in getting my lap top to recognize my facinate, I'm trying to link pdanet into my laptop and it keeps asking me to make sure my phone is attached to the computer and usb debugging is enabled! And it is. I used this with little effort on my droid 2 & it worked perfectly. I really don't wanna go back to my droid 2, not saying I don't like my droid 2, as I do, but I love my facinate & really want this to work out. If someone could guide me in the direction toward success I would be very happy. & bare in mind, I'm new to this phone. Tx, melody
