Newest/fastest rooting method

just got my insurance replacement droid1. would some one point me to the newest/fastest rooting method. most i see are 2 years old. will z4root work with 2.2 frg83? doesnt seem to... lol

once i do that method, i can download rom manager, and install clockword mod over spr correct? personal preference.....

I believe so... i use cwm as well.
