Just a short few moments ago, we reported that the Nexus 9 tablet is rumored to launch on October 15th. We have some indirect confirmation of that, if you connect the dots. According to some intel reported by the Wall Street Journal, Google is planning to officially unveil the Nexus 6 smartphone in the middle of October and will launch it in retail channels at the beginning of November.
Although this timeframe is not specific, it does coincide nicely with our previous rumor regarding the Nexus 9. If we assume that the Nexus 6 and the Nexus 9 will show up at the same time, then it seems likely these dates are fairly solid. To be clear, the WSJ called the Nexus 6 by its internal name, "Shamu," so we still don't know what it's final name will be. Luckily we only have less than a week before the 15th, so we might no everything for sure very soon.
The WSJ report goes on to suggest that Google is planning to offer the Nexus 6 at a cheaper price point than the $749 iPhone 6 Plus in order to compete directly with Apple's new flagship phablet. That seems like a smart move to us...
