Phoenix, AZ here. I've dropped to 3G a couple of times. Sometimes it's very brief (even though I should be on 4G) and sometimes I have to reset my phone. It almost always comes back though. Are you guys using Juice Defender? I think it interferes with my data on occasion and forgets to turn it back on.
We had an outage the other day in Troy, AL. Since it came back on it has been phenomenal. Went from an average of 4-5 down to 10-20 down with pings in the 60-80ms range.
Pretty much all the LTE phones have some problems with 4g connectivity. The Thunderbolt's has gotten better. I hear the bionic is having the same problems. It's a new technology, the next generation of LTE radios should be much improved on connectivity and battery life. Of course battery life will never be good until voice moves to LTE, then the phones wont have to run two separate radios all the time.
Does anyone else notice that the speed isn't nearly what it used to be? Is it the infrastructure itself or is it just because more and more people have 4G devices? I know the whole SpeedTest app issue showing abnormally high upload speeds, but even when tethering when 4G was just recently implemented I was getting anywhere from 5-15Mbps download (on the phone and when tethered), with almost as high upload. I've tried 4G now in Boston, CT, and Albany and now they seem to be between 1-5Mbps download.
