No boot Flickering Screen HELP

So I was using my Droid 2 (Latest Apex flashed) with no real problems for months now. Then yesterday I did a half decent amount of surfing on the web and tethering while the internet was out due to the hurricane. Then i tried turning on the phone after disconnecting from the comp and it wont turn on. Well it turns on but i dont get boot logos or anything. the screen IS turning on but nothing is showing up. I just get very thin horizontal banding popping up on the screen for a few seconds. then the phone appears to be booted because i get message notification LED popping up.

I tried holding X and power button to get into recovery but again nothing is showing up on the screen. is my phone destroyed?? could internet surfing fry it?
