No Case / Screen Protector, Still Like New

When I first got my Droid I got a hard snap-on shell from Verizon with it, but took it off the same day because it made it too bulky and weird feeling. I also put on the clear screen protector and used that for almost a year, but took it off a few months ago and still don't have one scratch on the screen. I've dropped it a couple times (once yesterday), and it's usually in my pocket and I'm not horribly gentle with it, but other than the gold paint flaking off of the camera button it still looks like new.

Just thought I'd throw this out there for those who can't decide on a case or can't find one that suits their needs, and to see if anyone else uses their Droid "bareback" and what the results were.

I'm with on that one! I'm going on a year now with my droid and only have one little scratch less the a centimeter long. I've dropped it, got it wet, and slammed it into all kinds of things. I'm a farmer so my job eats phones for breakfast! This is the most solid all around phone I've ever touched. We have used nextel work phones that haven't lasted this long.

Got my D1, dropped I don't know how many times sitting in front of me. It's semi retired now, gold paint still on button, (couldn't help but notice they didn't paint the camera button gold on the D2), no scratched maybe a nick hardly noticeable.

I would have used a screen protector if I found one that was comfortable to use and did the job. I have a Seidio case on my desk that I thought I was going to use but found it impractical.

So it's a naked Droid for me. My D2 is naked as well. I figured I've dropped it 15 times since I got it last week! Once on hard concrete. Guess I'm lucky.

I think these devices tend to be a lot less delicate than people think and a decent amount of protective case sales are fueled by paranoia. I never used cases in the past, but tended to favor clamshell devices. I used to think it was pretty remarkable how some of my phones looked, yet still functioned perfectly. Now, that being said, I have Invisible Shield all over my DX (waste of time and money? probably) and I am awaiting the arrival of my recently ordered Seidio Rugged. Paranoid? Me? Why yes. I am very paranoid.
