no gifs?

I have a D1 and I can't view any gif images. Is this normal? My buddy has a droid X and he can view the gifs. I have tried to view them in handcent, the gallery, and through both email apps with no luck. I also haven't figured out how to text to multiple recipients since the update to 2.2. Any hints? Thanks for the help.

You can view them with apps from the market. Image viewer is the one I use. The browser displays gifs from the web, and there is a couple of gif wallpaper apps you can download as well. Just search the market for gifs.
