No more Activities shortcuts possible?

Not sure how many people even knew about this feature, but I could assign activity shortcuts before GB. One click actions like compose sms, compose email, view battery stuff, anything on the device was accessible with one click through an activity shortcut. Now on GB, they seem to be completely missing.

My custom shortcuts seem to be working great. I don't use them though so there may not be as much of a robust selection of shorcuts, but after glancing at it for a few seconds, I was definitely able to define a compose text message shortcut.

Edit: I was also just able to define a compose email shortcut. The process may be different than on froyo, but using the custom shortcuts option from menu~add on the homescreen seems to work great.

I've never used these shortcuts on froyo or gingerbread, and considering i wiped before installing the two part rooted TBH gingerbread, there isn't any kind of shortcuts "left over" from froyo. Go to your homescreen, then select menu-add, and then select custom shortcuts. The actual processes that are being activated through the shortcut may be slightly hard to decipher, but the context clues within the shortcut process name seem to be more than enough to figure out which process to select.

There is no option for custom shortcuts. I see motorola widgets, android widgets, folder, wallpaper and shortcuts. In shortcuts, its just the usual shortcuts choices. Are you using a launcher?

I use ADW EX. I guess Motorola took the function out for whatever reason in the stock launcher, but gingerbread is still absolutely capable of creating custom shortcuts. Its very surprising that Motorola would take this functionality out.

They sure did. I removed Launcher Pro because my phone was lagging and thought that might be the culprit. Might have to put it back on.

if you mean the keyboard shortcuts? they're still there.

menu->settings->applications->quick launch.

No, this wasn't the keyboard quick launch options. This was the ability to add an icon shortcut to perform an activity. Anything from composing an sms to viewing specific settings or options can be done with one click using these activity shortcuts. So, for an example, to compose an SMS now, I have to open the SMS app, then click the + to compose a new message. With an activity shortcut, I can click that shortcut and automatically opens a new sms message. Just reduces clicks.
