No notification tone when I receive a text.

I just got my SGS4 and when I get an sms no sound plays. It only vibrates. I've looked at the settings and just couldn't figure it out. Any help?

Looks good to me... Hmm. As long as your volumes are up and you aren't in silent mode I don't see why it won't make a noise.

You probably have but did you check the notification volume?

If you press the volume up or down button that changes the call volume, but if you press that little gear you can change other volumes.

The little icon of a speaker will have a line through it. I also noticed the head phone icon is lit, any chance you have your head phone/rear buds plugged in?

Notification volume setting

Sydman's suggestion solved my sudden problem with no message notification sounds. All my other settings were correct, and I have no idea how this hidden volume setting got changed... but that took care of it. Thanks!
