Notification Tones?

I am not sure what I am missing with this phone, but I can't get new notification tones to show up in the list on the phone. Ring tones were no issue, I just can't get it to accept new notification tones. Anyone have any idea what I need to do?

I have had to put them in the notification folder in the internal storage to get them to show in the list.

I tried that and no dice. That is how I did it on previous Moto phones, but not working with this one.

I don't know if it helps but I use Zedge and the files I download go straight to the appropriate lists. I did have a few issues with setting a notification tone for an individual and having the phone use it as the default notification sound. I deleted the 3rd party texting apps I was trying out and used the stock one. So far it seems to have helped.
