Notification Volume Adjust??

It seems that no matter what level I set my ring tone volume using the button on the side, when I get a text message, the notification is at the same level.

What gives? Is there another place that notification volume can be set? I know you can select various sounds but, what about volume?

Pain in the rear having this go off in my office. I want to know when I get a text but, don't need to announce it to the whole world.

Any help is appreciated.

settings->sound & display->Ringer Volume
From here you can check the box to make your notification volume the same as your ringer volume.
This way your side ringer button will take down your notification sounds too.

Clearly, I overlooked this in my fishing around. This is exactly what I would expect. Also, knowing the feature exists, I can permanently turn down the notifications independent of my ring volume.

Too sweet.....
