Is there an application to silence my notification noise for email but keep the noise for a text message?

You should be able to go into sound settings and for email set to silent or no ringtone

In general, app-specific notifications (and other sounds) are managed via the app's settings.

There is an app called Whoisit I use. You can setup profiles like day, eve, nights then setup ringtone volume etc. The only problem I have is it does not save my ringtone per contact if I need to restore
