Notifications don't always work on the Rezound

My wife has the Rezound and has been saying that sometimes the notifications don't come through when the display is off. I tested this by sending her Google Talk messages when her display was off and waited several minutes. No notification sounded. A soon as I pushed the button to turn on the display, the notification for the message I sent sounded. I repeated this several times in a row and the same thing happened each time. Only a couple of times did the notification sound when the display was off.

He's anyone else experienced this? Does anyone know what is causing this and how to fix it?
