Odd GoogleMaps / GPS phenomenon...

Since I've had the phone now for a little over a month, about half the time that I start up Maps, it shows "My Position" as being at a house I lived at about a year ago, which is about an hour drive from where I live now. Back then, I was not with Verizon, but with ATT.

After a minute or so on Maps, it brings up my correct position.

That changed about 4 days ago when I recieved a signal extender that was ordered from Verizon. Now, Maps starts up showing that I'm near a golf course in Canyon Lake, California.

About 3 minutes later, it corrects itself.

What could be triggering that?

interesting.... are you using your droid where there isn't a clear view to the sky or maybe in a remote area where there aren't many cell phone towers?

i would double check your default location on a pc or mac by logging into your google account and going to google maps

Did you have Wifi on at the time and did you move your old access point to your new house? Google maps will use the SkyHook database of access point locations, or similar, for position. Position info can come from, in increasing accuracy, tower location, wifi location and gps location, but only one at a time.
