Oppo themselves just confirmed the display specs for their upcoming flagship the Find 7. According to their teaser on Facebook, it will include a 5.5-inch 2560x1440 (538ppi) resolution. That's the only official word from the company, but that doesn't mean we don't have more to go on. According to the latest rumor-mill, the high-end display will not be the only cutting edge tech on the phone. Newer rumors are suggesting the following specs:

  • Qualcomm 2.5GHz quad-core Snapdragon 805 with updated Krait 450 cores and Adreno 450 GPU
  • 3GB of RAM
  • 13MP rear shooter
  • 4000mAh cell
As you can see, some of these specs line up with previous rumors, yet some of them are even more advanced than what we heard previously. If this phone gets released soon, it will likely be the most powerful smartphone in the world for some time. We can't wait to see some performance numbers for this beast! We area also crossing our fingers that it will come to the U.S. and Europe!

A beast, yes. My only concern is that it seems a waste to push 538ppi, from a performance standpoint. It's well above the human ability to discern individual pixels at even abnormally close viewing distance. I'd rather that additional performance lost driving those 20% more pixels than necessary instead directed toward reducing/removing lag to achieve the fluidity of the display that the iPhone has mastered. I'm sure the display would be beautiful, but could you really tell the diff between this and say 430ppi? In a double-blind test I think the results would be inconclusive. Not unless it is able to achieve greater color saturation and dynamics, essentially expanding the displaying ability to more closely match the full gamut of colors the human eye is able to see.
