Otterbox with no slide out keyboard feature

I love Otterbox products. Their three level protection Defender cases are just about "bullet proof", look at their iPhone and Storm cases. I'm trying to see how many Droid users would be interested in this type of case. If there's enough interest I will contact Otterbox like I did when the Storm was released and see what they can do.:)

If you do a google you will see that Otterbox is already developing a case for the Droid. It 's due to come out shortly, I've requested an email from them as soon as it's released as I plan to do a write up on it on the Droid Forum Blog.

Dude! You read my mind! I absolutely love otterbox cases - had 1 on my iphone back in the day,and also on my storm. I was hoping they'd make one for Droid - I don't use the slide out anyway, and I need a case like this for my line of work - construction. Sign me up!!!!

You're absolutely correct hookbill! This is awesome news! $35 too, not bad at all! Here's a link - Thanks for the determination Hermes - but no e-mail needed, they got it covered!...lol
DROID by Motorola Commuter Series Case // OtterBox.com

Im there too , without the slideout feature looks like the one coming is a two piece, although it looks great I would love a NO SLIDE OUT!!!

Yeah, whoever posted the link for us to show them interest posts pic of their iphone case. I'm not a fan of the slide out keyboard at all, so I'd much rather have something that just covered the whole phone with the exception obviously of the screen, mics, speaker, buttons, and etc.

I purchased the aluminum car that latches shut, but it was almost impossible for me to pull the notification drawer down out use the p key on the touch screen because of where their case sat and how much space was between the phone and the case.

Long story short, count me in!

Yes, I know about the Commuter case. Its just a simple snap on case. As the thread title reads, a case that fully encases the Droid with NO sliding keyboard option.

I emailed them shortly after getting my Droid (around Launch) and they said they were getting a lot of emails asking when cases would be coming. From the reply I got from them it sounded like they were considering making some cases, but I needed to check back to the website to see what they would have. So far they have the one out, and hopefully the Defender series will be one they release too.

I hope new Otterbox owners don't get the idea that this is the "bulletproof" Otterbox case that we always brag about....it is not....that's more like a Seidio case. The Defender Series is totally different from the Commuter series.

Otterbox probably doesn't know that many Droid users never use the slide out keyboard. I too work in a harsh environment. I dropped my Storm Defender case many times from several feet with no damage to my phone.

For those of you who aren't familiar with their Defender series its three layers of protection. First there's a hard plastic frame. Then there's a thick rubber skin that absorbs drops/impacts and aids in grip. Lastly there's a built in screen protector attached to the frame portion. On top of that headphone and charging ports are sealed from dust/dirt and even light rain. Every switch like the power/volume/camera buttons is sealed by the rubber skin and can still be operated. The camera lens even has a clear protector over it. The speaker, earpiece and microphone also have very thin white felt-like covers to keep dust out. I know Otterbox can make one for the Droid if there's a large enough demand to make it profitable for them.:)

What do you say?

I'm not going to try this with my Bodyglove snap case.:hail:
