Alright so I have been overclocking my phone for awhile and when i do I stick with it for awhile and then start to get really frustrated with it. it gets reallly hot during use (I know it is supposed to get warmer when chargering and heavy use but its getting super hot). Im talking like 108~112 degrees F which is wayyyy too hot. I set my profiles in Jrummys app to bring down the clock speed ultimatley to bring down the temp which results in my phone being slower than normal without overclocking, just to bring down the temp. I usually don't go very high on it, the max i have gone is 1.25ghz on a low voltage. Basically i was wondering what you guys use to overclock (ghz and voltage) and you guys have had the best luck with. Thanks for the input in advance!

EDIT: So basically i just want something that will make it run faster/smoother but on the flip side to not make it run hot or drain alot of battery....anything exsist?

112-118 is not too hot. When I used to run Setcpu, I had it set to lover speed when 150 was reached. That was when I ran 1.25Ghz on my Droid.

How were you still able to hold it? i doubt 150 is any good for the phone either. thats crazy.

Yea 150 is way to hot unstable is like 125....I run mine at ULV 1.2 and it never gets over about 108 and that's pretty dang warm

Don't blame me my head and hands posted it.

I am using jrum's app and i am running at 1.35ghz max and 400min and that is with ULV usually doesnt get past 108. Thats if im doing a lot of browsing and if im wantign to play games or if im on D/F heavy. Usually is clocked at 1.25ghz max and 400 min with it set on LV and it usually doesnt get past 104. Even while setting in my pocket while im in class or while im at work walking around the warehouse.

Isnt the thermal runaway temp of a lithium-ion battery like 125 degrees?

It is about 125, but it's 125 centigrade (about 265F!!). The max temp on the cpu chip is about 200F (195-205??). So the temps being talked about are pretty tame. In the early days of overclocking the Droid 1 we used to regularly see 150f. Now with the under voltage kernels and great operating systems I rarely see anything over 113F (only running about 800 mhz now).

Don't be a wuss, get a pair of . . . . gloves!!!:icon_ banana:

Wow 265F is hotter than i think some of the plastic might be able to stand. Dont think we will see a 265F battery anytime soon or a 200F cpu in a mobile device. Maybe in some of the computer cpu's like the Intel i7.

Gloves might just do the job lol

Umm no I use the jrum. Overclocking widget which is in F not C and 265 the plastic would melt off the phone at that temp the soldering points are less temp than that there just know way at all bc mine got to 115 once and that was hot as s*** and yes right around 125 is run away temp so there just no way

Sounds maybe possible to get near 150F on the D1. Got a buddy that i will have to ask about that but i mean once mine reaches 108-112F im trying to under clock to 900max and 300min to try to cool it down some. Cant imagine what anything over 115F would feel like tho. Soldering joints might would give way before 150F then or at least become unstable but at that temp i think im just gonna put it down or near an A/C vent haha

Is using an undervoltage a good idea though? I build computers and if you don't give the processor enough power it becomes very unstable and in most cases just shuts down....I'm just looking for something that is stable, faster/smoother, runs somewhat cool and doesn't suck the life outta my battery.

Moto's stock voltage for 300mhz is like 28-29 isnt it? when i reboot and go to jrum's app and look at what it is currently clocked at i believe its 28-29 stock. While ULV's 300mhz is at 29v and LV 300mhz is at 31v so there isnt much harm in running either i dont think

No there's not but I seem 2 get a little better battery life when on ULV 1.2....and when on ULV above 1.2 it seems 2b unstable it glitches a lot in videos and things like that

Don't blame me my head and hands posted it.

I am stable with ULV all the way to 1.35ghz but I don't play or record videos very much. I do get better battery with ULV it seems tho. Does 1.35ghz really need to be set all the way up to like 78v? I also use LV if I go above 1.25ghz

So I managed to root my phone yesterday and have been running synergyROM without any problems. I downloaded an overclock widget, but I'm not quite sure how to effectively set it for optimal battery life. If I go into settings, it has a min. value of 61440-1497600 and a max value of 61440-1497600 and under advanced, screen on freq min values of 245760, 768000, 806400, 883200, 960000, 1036800 and max values of 768000, 806400, 883200, 960000, 1036800, 1113600.

I was just wondering how to optimize battery life with these settings, or if I should just delete the widget and upload a new kernal through kernal manager? I understand the idea of overclocking, just not how to effectively apply it to what I'm doing. Thanks in advance!
