Overseas: limiting data usage.

Hi guys,

I will be leaving for China in May for three months and will be using a China Mobile SIM. I want to only receive email, I have no need for anything else. How would I go about managing this? Preferably I want it to push like normal, but I am ok with having it update every 15 minutes. I want to stay in touch with my girlfriend and family, and want to be notified as soon as possible. Even if I have limited push intervals can I manually push email?

Again I prefer receiving email as fast as I do now, if there is a way to accomplish this without others data on that's, my utmost priority.
