The small smartphone manufacturer, Pantech, will likely soon launch a new mid-range smartphone for Verizon. On AT&T Pantech launched a phone called the Discover a few days ago. Today, a leak shows a Verizon version of the same phone, called the Perception. It's a decent offering compared to the higher-end smartphones coming out soon, but the stats line up pretty well with some of the higher-end phones of just last year. Here's the scoop on specs:
  • Perception (model: ADR930L)
  • Snapdragon S4 processor from Qualcomm, dual-core clocked at 1.5GHz
  • 4.8-inch 1196 x 720 pixel display
  • 4G LTE
  • 12.6 megapixel camera
  • Android 4.0
The phone's cousin on AT&T cost just $50 bucks subsidized, so it looks like this could come with some fairly budget-friendly pricing as well. Ultimately, since you can find the Samsung Galaxy S III for around the same price at third party retailers like Amazon, it's hard to see how this new phone fits in; however, perhaps it's better to have too many choices than not enough.

Is it mid range because it's running ICS?
