Pattern Lock Disappeared

I've had my Droid for 1 1/2 months and got it all set up the way I wanted it then I made the HUGE mistake of downloading an update. Along with losing shortcuts etc. my pattern lock/unlock has disappeared. I stopped at the Verizon store and called their tech support and they all tell me to go to Settings - Security - Screen Unlock Pattern. Unfortunately when I get there it is grayed and there is nothing under it. All of its settings are gone. Verizon has never heard of this happening. I hate to reprogram because I am a government employee and it is quite complicated to redo the exchange settings. Any ideas?

If you go into Settings>Location&Security>Change Unlock Pattern, you have to design the pattern then it will allow you to select Require Pattern to unlock your phone. I hope this helps.

Unfortunately that is the problem. Change Unlock Pattern is not there. There is nothing under Screen Unlock Pattern except the next heading of Change Unlock Password which does exactly that - changes the password. There is nothing relating to the Pattern except for the title heading.
