Pattern lock problem

Hi,
I bypassed the pattern lock by using the PIN. Now after using the phone old the pattern lock doesn't come up like it did once the screen times out. How can I reactivate the old pattern lock? I don't want to create a new one.

Only thing I can think of trying is first going back to swipe the start over.

What comes up once the screen times out? Do you get prompted for a pin or nothing? I would go back to security and try re-setting up the pattern lock from scratch.
