PC wants to format already formatted SDCard...what gives?

I woke up this morning to an SDcard error. I reformatted the card on the droid...

-I can see the directory of the SDcard in Astro
-When plugged into the usb on my laptop (xp) the drive shows up
-I have the options to mount and debug on the Droid
-I can choose mount with no issues
-when I select the drive on my PC; windows tells me I need to format it.
- so I say "What the heck!" and then I attempt to format in FAT32
- PC tells me that it cannot complete the operation

I was able to push files to the SDCard via Adb!...why does windows refuse to see that the card is already formatted! ARG!

is there any way to fix this without having to get a card reader?

hmmm...I rebooted the PC...now Droid soft boots when I plug it in. There is probably a simple fix for this. I just wonder what it is......

So I had to do a total data wipe and clear the cache to stop the rebooting.

I must have had something installed that was conflicting with the USB. Still can't get the PC to recognize the SD card as formatted....going to try a microSD reader
