Phone Fusion Visual Voicemail

Am I going to get charged by verizon using this? Or is this completely separate from verizon's visual voicemail.

Basically, will this cost me anything to use?

From what I've read during a brief search on google, it is a free to download app, and I do not believe Verizon can charge you for the use of said application. I don't know how they would be able to tell that you're using the application anyways. *shrugs* Just my two cents.

::edit::
The following was taken from http://blog.phonefusion.com/?p=428

"We’re very excited about the new Droid released today. As you try out your new phone, just remember to download Fusion Voicemail Plus for all your visual voicemail needs. We’ve added a few new features to the app, including the ability to receive faxes right on your Droid . And unlike Verizon’s visual voicemail service that costs $2.99/month, Fusion Voicemail Plus is FREE. Download it today from Android Market."

If anyone is using this please post a review. I like the idea behind VVM but Google's is a joke (the transcripts are so poor they are usually not even understandable) but I don't think the feature is worth paying a month charge (as in VZWs service). Would be interesting to see if this free app is comparable.

I agree, but I won't have my Droid until Monday afternoon and unfortunately have no way to test out this app. If someone would and let us know if it is comparable, that would be awesome.:)

Even if its Voice to Text isn't great, it would just be nice to have an interface (for free) to listen to voicemails rather than pressing 7 to delete and waiting to press * to exit so you can get rid of the notification and so on.

Ok I installed it (haven't agreed yet to its terms) it says:

Requires SMS and call forwarding and internet access to operate. Check with your carrier for charges that may apply.

Now obviously I have SMS and Internet access...but does verizon charge for call forwarding?

eesh, I'm not entirely sure about that. Gonna check up on that now..

::edit::

got this from the verizon website.

"How does billing work for Call Forwarding?
Airtime charges apply to all forwarded calls in accordance with your Calling Plan, even if you forward your calls to a landline number. There is no monthly fee on most Verizon Wireless plans; however, a fee may apply on some retired plans. Long Distance is not charged on forwarded calls if you have a plan that includes Long Distance."

If you have unlimited everything than I don't see it costing you anything, even if you don't I couldn't imagine it... maybe I'm just hopeful? lol. Hope that helped a little...

PF voicemail is perfectly fine to use and completely FREE!!! Just like Youmail.....I use PF and I think it's great compared to the alternatives......you can set passwords, fax (which isn't free), it tries to translate the voicemail to text (which isn't very accurate), but overall I enjoy it and it does what its supposed to do better than the other visual voicemail apps on the Market

Thanks for clearing it up natediddy. I'll be sure to add this tot he list of apps I get when I get my Droid in on Monday. I can't wait!!!

Well because I use Google Voice I don't have txting enabled on my phone/account. So then the question becomes if PV will send the VMs to my GV # instead of my cell number??

Though if this is the case (the call forwarding) I might as well just use GV unless the transcribing is a whole lot better.

If I was you, I'd just stick with GV just in case.....the transcribing can't be much better because they basically suck on PF Visual Voicemail....honestly, it sends me texts when I have a new vm, so I would say it would send them to you...

Thanks for the update. Guess I'll just stick with GV, but this might be a good alternative for others that haven't been able to get on GV yet.
