Phone In Cool Down Mode

Has anyone seen the screen before that states the phone is in "Cool Down Mode"?

I got out of the car yesterday to go into the store and left the phone in the Car Dock. I only expected to be in the store a minute or two but ended up inside for about 20 minutes. When I returned to the closed up car the phone screen was blank and when i touched it a dark screen with a notification stating "Phone In Cool Down Mode" and the phones temp was showing as temp of 163F. So I took the phone out of the dock and placed it in front of the A/C vent to start cooling it down. When it reached 152 degrees the "Cool Down" screen went away and the normal home screen came back on.

ive never seen it personally but seen the bits and pieces of it inside of the OS, makes sense for the device to do this and try to preserve itself from any harm or the user from any harm.

Actually I was a bit surprised when the phone returned to working order at 152 degrees F. It was still to hot to hold in your hand for more than a few seconds. I wish i had gotten to take a picture of the screen. But i will not intentionally put the phone into that situation.

makes it good to know the phone has separation issues... all kidding aside hot day and phone left in car sounds less apealing now having heard your story.

It was 97 degrees outside and the car was in direct sunlight and so was the phone as it is mounted just behind the steering wheel and the sun was shining thru the front window. So yeah it was really hot in the car. But even with an outside temp of 70 it can get that hot in the car if the sun is shining on the phone.

I used to have similar issues with my D1. If I put it in the dock on a long road trip, it would eventually just stop charging because it was too hot. I like that the phone is black, but it really makes it absorb a lot of heat from the sunlight, especially with the dock also being black.
