Phone List Backwards

I bought a Droid. After transfering 140 contacts from old phone, facebook, and email, they are now listed backwards on my phone contact list. I want the list sorted by last name, then first name, with all the Smiths together ex. How can I change this??? Thanks in advance for any help.

Wow that's a new one on me. I don't see a setting for sorting in either the phone or Google, where I though my be the control.

i was always confused by this as well. i never found a way to sort by last name :/
