Physical DROID 1 Problem

I tried to search this but to no avail. The Power/Sleep Button on the top of my D1 has become "worn out", for lack of a better word. It takes more effort to click it to turn the screen black or to wake it up. I am not sure if anyone knows any physical ways to fix it but I would be willing to try. I use that button way to much to have it on the fritz. Thanks in advance for any help.

Just to add to this, I have Tasker and I was wondering if you could dedicate the Camera Button to do the things that the top button does.

My droid 1 is doing the same thing, it seems like only the left side of the button actually turns the screen on/off. Idk if this is the issue you're having, but I figured id try.

Are you just talking about the button feeling sorta soft/spongy when you press it, and not a clean button click? It has been talked about a lot, although not recently as I recall... anyway, it's normal. Mine has been like that since day 1. Now, if it's becoming unresponsive, that might be another issue.
