Pictures in gallery but cannot locate them to delete

I have number of albums that are in the gallery but when I try to delete them, the delete option does not appear. I have loaded other pics and I can delete those. I have a file manager program and cannot locate the problems pics and when I search the droid when its connected to my pc the pics cannot be found.
Would appreciate any help.
