Playing video files on the droid

I downloaded some .mp2v files -- video -- and can't seem to play them. They don't show up in the gallery? How do you get to the SD card from the phone itself? I can't find the files unless I'm mounted to a PC? Is there a way to view that from the phone directly?

Windows Media Player couldn't play the file..is this a quicktime thing or ?
Any help here would be greatly appreciated.
