Playlists without syncing WMP or MediaMonkey possible?

First off, let me say this: I despise media management programs like Windows Media Player, iTunes (especially!), Media Monkey, etc... I like to deal with my music by what the are: files.

I recently put a couple of audio books on my DX and dropped in an m3u playlist file, but it seems (as I've seen from searching the forums) that this doesn't work. I do not want a solution using an application from the market or any media management program. Is there some other more direct way that I can drop a playlist file onto my DX and have it read it?
