Please help! Can no longer access settings on Incredible 2

When I hit the menu button and click on settings on my HTC Droid Incredible 2, I receive an error message saying, "The linked program is no longer installed on your phone." I have no idea why this is happening. :sad-b: (I know for one thing I certainly didn't uninstall it!) Can someone please help me fix this this?

Thanks so much in advance!

For some reason, even after I turn it off, press the volume down button and hold it down, and simultaneously press the power on button, it's still not taking me to that page ... any ideas as to what's going on?

Still no dice. Let me sure I'm doing this absolutely correct.

Turn off phone. Press and hold the volume down button. While holding the volume down button, press the power on button at the same time. (If I continue holding the power on button down it never starts.)

Is that correct? Perhaps I am not understanding the correct way to do it.

Well the fix is easy, if you had access to the settings. :frown: There is an option called "fastboot" that allows you to turn on the phone quickly by skipping the opening screens. Unfortunately it is turned on right now on your phone (I believe). Try this: Power off, pull battery and leave it out for at least 30 seconds. Replace the battery, hold down the volume key, press and release the power button. If that doesn't work let me know. Good luck!

Droid Firefighter, YOU ARE MY HERO. That worked! Now, of course, I have to re-download all my apps and set back up my phone the way I want it, but settings is BACK! Seriously, I cannot thank you enough.

My pleasure to help you out, glad you got it working! The fastest way I've downloaded apps is from the computer. Search Google market then log in. Any app you have ever installed is in your history. Click on each app you want back then click install. It will be sent straight to your phone. You can actually watch your phone start to install the apps without touching it. Kinda cool.

BTW, go into settings, and select power. Scroll down until you see fastboot and uncheck that box. That is what was keeping you from getting into the bootloader. Also it doesn't play nicely with some apps and could cause them to malfunction.
