Hi, I'm running a rooted 2.1 dX and wanted to update to 2.2. I have tried various ways and various roms (OTA, Leaked, etc..)
I'm aware that the Official OTA probably wouldn't have worked right because I'm rooted and would need to restore my phone back to stock. So I waited.
Then I tried to install the leaked froyo through ROM manager. It downloads the file okay, prompts me to wipe cache and backup, but doesn't do anything after that. After searching for an answer for that problem, I found nothing that repairs that (Including clearing download cache in rom manager, reinstalling rom manager, etc..)
I came to the conclusion that my phone must not be stock completely, so I checked the system folders, made sure all the bloatware .bak's were .apk (some were also frozen in titanium). I tried to download again. No luck.
I tried to factory reset, reinstalled everything, and repeat the download. No luck again.
I then read an article on how to restore to stock 2.1 in order to up to 2.2. So i downloaded RDSlite, followed the directions and tried to flash with the sbf file. RDSlite reaches 100% executed and then says it failed.
This is when I noticed something in Titanium when I was getting pissed off about everything not working. ".com.motorola.backupassistanceclient" was striked through in the applications list. I couldnt freeze or unfreeze it so I assume it's gone. My theory is that I deleted it when I didn't know what I was doing when I first rooted 2 months ago.
Is this my problem? This missing bloatware file is holding me back from upgrading? I tried searching for the file but all that come up are the Backup Assistant APK files instead of this specific one I need that fits in /data/app.
Anyone have a similar problem?
And if obtaining this file is the answer, how would I go about doing it? I have zero experience with adb so manually might be confusing for me. Also, where would I be able to get it?
