i changed a setting, can't remember where or what and now can't find it to change it back. every attachment from emails is saved in albums, all downloads. i have the picture from my buddy's email signature in there about 70 times. also, i don't know how to mass delete so i have to manually delete and this is very time consuming.

plz help a newbie out!

I still want them in the email but agree that they don't need o be saved in my album area. Very annoying.

To delete, I just went into the gallery, selected delete and then selected all the downloaded files that I didn't want. Much faster than deleting them one by one.

The big question is, how do we change a setting so that they don't download automatically into the gallery?

I may be missing the point of your question but I'll throw this out there:

Your goal is to stop automatically downloading all attachments that reside in your emails? Are we talking the gmail client? I sure don't see an option to turn that on or off so I'm stuck.

Or are you saying you would like the things that you DO download not to appear in the gallery?

If you want attachments to quit showing in your gallery place a .nomedia file in the download folder of said app that you are using to download attachments.

Gallery saves all email attachments and photos

Did anyone come up with a fix for this? I use my Thunderbolt for corporate email and it is saving every signature jpg in the gallery. Help! This is taking up storage space and time-consuming to delete. I have over 700 just this week!!

Ok, here's how you stop your Gallery from autosaving every image received in your email:

Open Email
Menu/More/Settings
Send & Receive
Change "Include file attachment" to "Never"
Softboot your phone via the Power button/Restart

This should now prevent auto download and auto save of these images into your Gallery.

I am annoyed by this too, but when I go into the settings as described above, I don't have an option for "Include file attachment"..

Any ideas??

Hmmm... Dan - I'm using an HTC Thunderbolt, so my settings may be different. Make sure you are in the Receive portion of the email settings.

Kelly.. TBolt here too.. (never updated signature).

Under Receive settings:
Mail Size limit
Update schedule
Download options
Auto download message
Sync deleted...

I tried shutting off Auto Download message.. we'll see what happens.
