portable power help and problems

Any suggestions on a portable powering unit for my phone. Don't want to dent my pockets either.

Also I have had a re-aquring problem every once in a while ill be doing something on my moto droid and all my apps on my home page disappear I can still scoll through the 3 home screens but there is nothing there. I then restart my phone and all the apps come back has happended 3 times any suggestions????
