It doesn't scratch the xoom itself. It leaves a bit of a scuff but it rubs off with your finger. I'm not too happy with the case though. Ill be looking for a different one soon.
The Verizon lady tried hard to sell me this case. I passed on it. Good thing I did after seeing this. With my luck, I'll most likely end up breaking my Xoom!!
I too discovered that last night at work. I went into our tool room and got an awl and made a hole. I then took some really sharp scissors and trimmed it up a bit. It's not the best and I'd surely like to have better, but until a new case from OtterBox or something like that comes out. It'll have to do.
That stinks. Why would they put the ports on the bottom. So there is no case that works like a stand that you can have the power and hdmi out plugged in while in the case?
Seems like the only option would be for the dock. I have an HD dock coming my way tomorrow (shipping). I've heard that the dock and the case is compatible
I remember reading that they were compatible as well, but I own the case and I don't see how it could fit onto the dock. It wouldn't be the first time I missed something obvious though...
Have a dock coming tomorrow as well - also read that the two are compatible. At this point it's the only case I can see that provides usability/protection like the OEM Ipad case that I love.
You can fix the scuffing by taking sandpaper or a sharp nice and taking the little catches off did this the second I got my case, and with the no cut outs one the bottom, nothing a sharp knife and a steady hand couldn't fix.
I think the portfolio case works fine with the dock. You fold back the case as if you were using the case as a stand. The back half the case stays folded behind the dock. I'm not worried about the "scratch" thing either. If you use your thumbs to spread the case a little when pulling it back, it doesn't mark the Xoom at all. I also used a razor blade to shave off the raised numbers inside the flap that the video complains about. A nice leather case is going to be a tempting purchase; but the portfolio case may end up being the most functional since it works so easily with the dock. The rubbery surface of the case also provides a secure grip when carrying.
