"Power Control" Widget Question

Yep, I'm a newbie, I just got my Droid on Friday. I loaded the Power Control widget and really like it but what does the "button" do that looks like a "refresh" symbol?

That's used to turn "sync" on and off

Not true if u turn off sync it only affects mail so you wont get mail pushed to your phone. Sync also syncs your contacts and calendar and backs up your contacts to your gmail account
