power for external webcam

I've got a boroscope for use with my phone. I've got an external webcam too. They both work well when on a short wire (via a usb adapter), but when i add a 10m extension cable the picture goes (but the light on the camera stays on). I figure that the phone can not power the extended cable so I was wondering if you can somehow boost the power? Any ideas? Thanks

Welcome to the Forum.

It doesn't take much power to send a signal 10m. I would check the cable's spec and make sure you using a quality cable.

Thnks for the reply. I had just assumed it was a power issue as it worked just fine through the laptop (with the 10m extension) and also on the phone when the extension was unplugged.

In terms of cable specification, what should I be looking for?
