It appears that the engineers at Intel have a new smartphone in the works. An Intel device with the model name CZ120 just jumped through its FCC hoops. Although the FCC filing doesn't dish out all the goodies on this device, we are able to determine a few details. Here's what we know:
  • 128 millimeters tall and 67 millimeters wide, with a thickness of 10 millimeters (this suggest a display size of 4.3 inches probably)
  • A camera with a dual-LED flash on its back
  • Bluetooth, NFC, Wi-Fi, and GPS
  • 3G HSPA+ networks on the 850/1900MHz frequency bands, or on 1750MHz WCDMA networks
Even though this phone is labeled as an "Intel smartphone" at the FCC, it is unlikely to come to market as an Intel branded product. More than likely this is being built as a product for a specific carrier. Of course, we could end up surprised and Intel could actually bring out there own branded smart-device. That would be a unique and interesting change in the mobile world. We will keep our eye out for this one and share any future details when they show up.

Sounds like it could be up to a 4.7" screen. It's 1mm shorter and 2mm wider than the Moto X. It's 7mm longer and 6mm wider than the 4.3" Droid Mini.

So I guess as the years go by we will just keep hearing about intel phone this and that but never actually see one.

I'm interested in what OS it will run. I'm thinking windows 8 but maybe android it would b interesting to see it be android and go to Verizon

not liking that camera hump already. why don't manufacturers make an even flat surface in the back and fill in the space with battery? thin is not in, do you hear that manufacturers? it's not aesthetically comfortable to hold.

Not true, people (as in normal users, not us 'power' users) want their phones to be paper thin.

If you ask me, looks like what could be the Droid X3 :)

So it is going to be a windows phone?!!! Yuk!!!

Why does everyone assume just because Intel makes desktop cpus that means they will make windows phones? Mac also uses Intel. Maybe this is the New iPhone???

They've been trying to roll out a mobile phone for a while, it will probably be android.
