CNET posted A YouTube video pitting the HTC One (M8) against the Samsung Galaxy S5. They're both amazing devices, but which one of these high end smartphones do you think will emerge victorious in CNET's head to head battle?

Both phones are awesome which makes it a tough decision.

Well, I won't comment too specifically, so as not to give it away for those who haven't watched the video yet, but watching that did give me even more reason to look seriously at BOTH phones. For the things that are most important to me, one did stand out a bit above the other, but it was so close otherwise that it would be really hard to choose. I guess for me, what it will come down to, if the race is close between all new phone contenders, is which ones are going to be 'open' to at least be rootable so I can use Titanium Backup, a firewall, and Xposed for customization.
