Problem - Unable to add more widgets to home page

Droid X is my first smart phone and I have lots to learn.

I've downloaded a few apps but when I press on an almost empty screen and try to add an android widget, an error message states there is no more room on that screen to add. What am I doing wrong? The home screen is filled with the apps that came with the phone but why can't I add widgets to the other mostly blank screens.

Ahh, you've come across the most frustrating issue I had at first
Since the screen doesn't tell you how big the widgets are, you have to guess at their size.
What I recommend is to go to a blank page, add the widget there, and see how big it is. Then you'll know how much space you need to free up on the other pages.
