Problem with my HTC Incredible

For the past few days each time I try to access my text messages app I receive the message "Sorry. Messages has stopped unexpectedly. An error report will be sent to HTC. Please try again." I am offered "Force close" as the only way out of this screen. I have tried switching off and removing battery but it hasn't cured the problem. Suggestions would be greatly appreciated, Dutchharry

Try going to settings - apps - all, finding your messaging app and clearing data. Reboot and see if you can get in.

Never owned and htc device but this has NOT erased text messages on any of my Motorola or Samsung phones.

Hmm, I'm sorry I couldn't help. Have you installed anything recently that may be conflicting with your messaging app? My last resort would be a complete factory reset... Or you may consider calling the company.

Hopefully someone will be along who can offer further suggestions.
