Problem with read e-mails not viewing on Droidx

Have the Droidx on verizon. Using GMAIL with IMAP.

I am getting e-mails but they seem go away when they are marked read from the google mail desktop.

Is there a way I can keep all of my e-mails viewable on the droidx whether they are new or read?

Please let me know. Thanks.

I personally use labels in GMail works well for me

Not sure how the GMAIL labels have anything to do with my question?
