Problems with google maps navigation

I have recently received a replacement thunderbolt cause my old one died. my nephew loaded cyanogenmod 7.2. everything seems to work except that my googlemaps navigation app wont work. it only searches for satellites all day long killing my battery. is there anyone who could give me some advise?

Have you tried gps status from the playstore? You can download agps data with it. Seems to have helped some.
