Problems with texting or using the keyboard

I have been having a problem ever since the ICS update. I love this update but sometimes while im in the middle of a text the keyboard goes away and if I tap a couple times where it left off it will come back up. But when I start where it left off it will delete that word. Has anyone had this happen to them? I did a Factory Data Rest Saturday.

Never had this happen. However, I'm curious to know if you experience this with every app that involves a keyboard.

So far its just texting and once in awhile on the internet. It just did it twice while typing this. It will freeze up and after like two seconds the key board will go away and I will have go tap the screen where I left off repeatedly to get the key board back

Did you do a Factory Data Reset before or after installing ICS? If not I would suggest you do that, I always do a FDR for an OS upgrade just to avoid little quirks such as this. Or it could be an APP you have interfering somehow, you could try booting into safe mode and see if it still happens.

Power off the phone, turn it back on, when you see the red M logo press and hold the volume up and down at the same time until you see "Safe Mode" in the corner. When you boot up test and see if it still happens, if it does then you need a FDR and if it does not then you have an APP causing the problem.

Yes like I said I did a FDR Saturday (the day it came out to everyone)

Oh I completely missed that part of it, have you tried safe mode?

No I will give that a try. It only does it every once in a while not a lot though so it could take a while but I will try

Well after sending a few texts in safe mode I didn't have the problem. But its not like it happens all the time either. The only new app I downloaded since on ics was fancy widgets. I never had a problem on gingerbread

Well I put it back in safe mode today and had the same problem again. Has anyone had this problem yet? Its kinda making me mad. I dont want to have to do a factory reset and download everything again and put it all back to the way I had it.

Well after a second FDR and reinstalling the apps myself it still does it. So maybe something wrong with the update I got but I dont know. Its weird

Only problem I have found with the keyboard so far started today. Sometimes my spacebar doesn't register when I tap it. May just be me or maybe a phone issue rather than an OS issue. It also seems like the numbers on the dialpad are moved up.

My phone has been doing the exact same thing and it's driving me nuts. Have you found a solution?

The only solution my son found was to use a different keyboard. The problem disappeared with a different keyboard.

The only solution my son found was to use a different keyboard. The problem disappeared with a different keyboard. His keyboard would disappear if he hit the edge of a key, or didn't hit squarely in the center. It drove him crazy.
