[Project] Homemade Droid 3 Car/Desk Dock

Take is easy on me guys, this is my first time ever attempting something like this. I thought that I would get out easier (yeah, right) making my own dock for my D3 because I didn't want to but a real one. I haven't put it in my truck yet (haven't had it in over 5 months...) but I'm hoping this will serve my purposes.

It is made out of wood that was just lying aroung my dad's building. I worked with what I had, so it is NOT perfect by any means. It will suit my purposes so that's all I care about.

I used a dremel to painstakingly carve out the base for the phone and I used a spare Moto cable I had lying around.

It would have turned out a lot better if I had better equipment and better wood. It's still not 100%, more around 90%-95%, but it's working.

Please be kind. Like I said, this is the first time I've ever done something like this.

Nice handywork! The fact that it articulates is cool, and the fact that it works...well, that's a good thing too!!:hail:

Dang good work on the design and execution of that articulating arm on the "trailer hitch" swivel.
Seems simple, yet very functional

I am not the droid you're looking for

Thank ya, thank ya. :D The wood I was working with was kind lopsided so it isn't straight. And I ended up rounding the edges of the pieces that make up the stand so it can better articulate near the base and back of the dock. And the "trailer hitch" swivels are grease fittings I found in my dad's building. I just ground the nipple off of it. I need to find something better and slightly larger that I can use for the swivel point.
