PSP Phone Now In Picture Form

It has been rumored for ages about what Sony has in store for us, well we finally have some information on what should be… the Play Station phone. The first phone to come with the much anticipated Play station integration finally has a picture for us to enjoy and even a spec sheet for some added fun.

Here is what we should expect on the device:
• Android 2.3 (Gingerbread)
• Custom Sony marketplace to buy games designed for a device like this
• 1GHz Qualcomm MSM 8655 (200MHz faster than the G2, but the same new architecture, apparently) -- by the way, that's the same system-on-a-chip as we just saw in the myTouch 4G/HD benchmarks we posted.
• 512MB of RAM/1GB ROM
• MircoSD slot -- no Sony Memory Stick -- thank whoever it is you thank for that sort of thing.
• The screen is between 3.7 and 4.1-inches -- that's a pretty large range, and we're learning toward the larger end.

Now I cannot see how the PS3 sync will come in play with this, but I guess it is still unfinished as you can see in the picture above. Just so you know, this device is nowhere near ready and hopefully it is improved before released (Software improvements welcomed). I will also add that if you are one of the many that recently have grown to want a front facing camera, this device will have one as you can tell from the image above.

I would also like to point out that the phone is pretty much a PSP with a phone and so does this make it a PSPP or PSP or PSD (Play Station Droid). What do you think about this now? Any interest out there for something like this? Let us know.

well its pretty cool, but i dont need a psp all the time. the times that i would want to have a psp dont make up for carrying the extra weight all the time. i'd rather get one of those crazy new phones (like the samsung)

but, this would be a good phone if like a 13 wants to get an android phone. (and it would be cool, but i just dont use my phone for gaming enough to want a psp built into my phone)

Man this is gonna have teenage boys pestering their mommy for days and days.... Mothers of america... Sony Ericson would like to apologize now for your inevitable nagging you will receive shortly.

LOL sorry this phone just isnt anything that any grown adult should own as their cell phone. Its great for teenagers that want a phone and game system to play to keep them entertained without having 2 things to carry... but no grown adult should be carrying this around in their pocket. I love the front of this though... the rounded arched keys are a nice touch. If this had a pull out Keyboard instead of gamepad this could be a real competitor

well i think its great android is trying to get all age groups with an android phone =]...but im sure this will be for ATT since there the ones that carry sony ericson phones =[

wait, i though GINGERBREAD was 3.0?? or was i misinformed
No worries.

Android Gingerbread Could Be Version 2.3

Not sure I agree with the "this is a phone for teen boys" argument. If the price were right (come on, it's Sony...the price won't be right) it could be a very serious contender. The one funny thing though is that I'm thinking "keyboard" when I see the gamepad. I wonder if there were some way to engineer a hybrid...maybe a snap-on keyboard?

I think my willingness to get this is highly dependent on the games offered in the PS store, build quality, battery life, and aesthetics.

Otherwise, I'm going to see what psp2 offers.

Im curious... How many of you over the age of 21... would honestly be ok with having this in your pocket and showing it off and bragging about it.... I dunno me personally im 25 and i like playing games but i honestly would be embarrassed to have this as my cell phone... its def not professional at all... I dunno i just cant honestly see this selling good except to teenagers or game fanatics who are social shut ins (no offense to anyone on here... i dont wanna start any flame wars or anyting like that so please do not start any im just stating an opinion on this) If this takes off as more then just a gimmick phone ill be very suprised

I'm older than you, and in no way am I a "social shut in" but I would definitely rock this. Video games aren't just for kids, and noone would say anything about it except "cool!".

Now the AT&T or TMobile part will be a deal-breaker.

Do you know how many 25+ men play Call of Duty? Did I make my point?

yep... it only says "Please insert SIM card" on the lower left of the screen :icon_evil::icon_evil::icon_evil::icon_evil:

It would be a good motivator for my son to keep his grades up LoL

At first glance when I saw the phone, I did not like it at all. But the more I look at it, I can't help but be impressed. It is certainly an amazing looking phone. The only problem that I have is that I wish they could somehow have the gamepad slide out, and also a slide out qwerty keyboard. I know it would make the device a lot bulkier, but I don't bulky as long as it has the keyboard. Then again, I am spoiled by my Droid 1.

I would be interested in getting this if it has even half decent battery life and developers are willing to port their Android Market games and make them compatible with this controller. That would be awesome.
