Earlier today I installed Fission, and had to put Backup Assistant back in which was gone so I went back to my earlier backup pulled the apk with root explorer put Fission back in and then reinstalled BA following the steps listed in the droid x area This thread it seemed to give me some head way but when I go to launch it to put my pen in and get my contacts back on my phone the app opens and then shuts with out any chance for input or a hang of any kind.

Here is the stuff from android system info, I hope it is relevant and can help me get this resolved.

Thanks in advance and hi everyone.

You don't need backup asst to put your contacts back on your phone...your contacts should be saved on the google server. just sync your phone to it and you should be good. I also like to save contacts on the sd card

Sent from my DROID2

You can go to the vzw website and log in and then go to the backup assistant section, then export the contacts from there and put them in to your gmail contacts.

tappin and a talkin

At the time of writing that i had lost access to my verizon because i hadn't logged in in awhile and i only had five of my contacts in my address book.

well if that method doesn't work for you, and you still have no contacts, restore your backup where you stil have all your contacts. then open the contacts app and hit menu and then more and then import/export. then choose to export contacts to sd card. then flash the new rom and when everything boots up, open the contacts app and repeat the process but choose to import contacts from sd card instead.
